1.) Recollections
Shortly after Chapter 3 – in Mizuki’s apartment.

It had been an interesting evening for the young vampiress.  She had made an unlikely ally in Miles, and fed upon yet another criminal.  It never occurred to her before just how many thugs there were in her city.  She began to wonder if they were connected in some way.  Mizuki decided to try and invoke the memories of those she had feasted on.  Perhaps she could find some clues as to what was causing the so many violent incidents lately.  Mizuki was unsure if there was some kind of coordinated effort occurring, or if she had simply never noticed how much crime there was.

The young woman delved into the acquired memories, and found a great number of fragments.  It was easier to explore the past thoughts of those she drained than last time, and her mind was also sharper than ever, allowing her to more thoroughly piece together a cohesive narrative.  After a fair amount of time sifting through the recollections of her victims, Mizuki came to conclusion that there was definitely some kind of organized force behind the recent spike of crime, but she needed some help analyzing the data.

Mizuki recalled that Miles had gained access to various databases, and decided that she’d ask him about what she saw later.  She spent the rest of the evening exploring her latest suite of upgrades, reveling in the obscene amount of power she possessed.  Mizuki was positive that she was now the strongest human being alive, although she wasn’t sure if she could be classified as ‘human’ anymore.

The next day evening

Mizuki contacted Miles, who was eager to see her.  Secretly, she was excited to visit with him as well.  While Mizuki hadn’t suddenly acquired an attraction for the guy, he was one of the few individuals she could talk to about her recent transformation.  While she was more confident, powerful, and even beautiful than ever before, it seemed premature to let her friends know that “Hey, I’ve become some kind of vampire that literally steals attributes from the people whose blood I drink.”

She wondered what kind of clothing Miles had bought for her, presuming that he had completed the task she gave him.  Part of her hoped that he picked out something extremely revealing, something that would show off her immensely impressive body – with some room to grow; another part of her hoped he grabbed something more conservative.

After getting into contact with him, Mizuki made her way to his garage-home.  She moved at a breakneck speed even faster than what she was capable of a mere day ago.  It was an amazing sensation: knowing that she was far more powerful than she was a mere few days ago, and becoming better all the time.

Eventually she made her way to Miles’ dwelling and firmly knocked on his door.

The young man answered.  “Hey Mizu-” Miles cut himself off to start again, “Oh, you’re, uh taller…”

Mizuki smirked as she let herself in. “Sweet of you to notice. I’m also stronger, faster, smarter, more durable, possess sharper senses, along with some other upgrades as well.”

Miles gulped.

The vampiress could sense his vitals speeding up as she described her improvements, prompting her to giggle. “So, what’d ya get me?”

“The clothing? Over here.” Miles led her to a pile of shopping bags. “I wasn’t too sure what to grab, so I got a whole bunch of stuff.” He explained.

Mizuki dug through the garments, eying them over. There was a couple large sweatshirts, a huge jacket, multiple pairs of sweat and yoga pants, and…  “A leather bodice and LANGIRE?” Mizuki asked, yelling the last word.

“Hey! You’re the one that requested something that would show your body off!” Miles exclaimed, his face beet-red.

Mizuki giggled before breaking into a full-on laugh.  “Well, I guess that’s true.  Since you paid for it, I guess I’ll humor you.  Still, you won’t get to see the lingerie… not yet at least.”

Miles’ blush deepened.  “I figured that if you’re going to be fighting crime, I should do my part and help supply you, you know?”

Mizuki shook her head. “I’m going to pay you back, trust me.”

Miles nodded. “Alright, I appreciate it. Don’t worry too much though.”

“Anyways, while I’m not going to sample the lingerie in front of you yet, I WILL treat you to a show.” She explained as she stripped her jacket off, revealing her thick, powerful muscles.  Next she stripped her tank-top off, revealing a pulsating eight-pack sitting below a barely fitting bra.  Mizuki took the leather bodice and fitted it across her wide body.  “Tie me up?”

Miles gulped and made his way behind her.  With shaking hands, he tied each thread as snugly as he could.  When it was all said and done, the piece barely fit on Mizuki’s immensely powerful body.

“Damn Mizu…” he said quietly.  “You definitely, uh, you know – ate someone last night, huh?” he asked with a nervous laugh.

Mizuki balled her hands, forcing the thick, bulging muscles in her forearms to bunch up.  She rotated her wrist, watching Miles stare at the flesh awestruck.  “Aww, you noticed!  How sweet.” she said with a light laugh.  “Wanna feel?”

Wordlessly, Miles reached over and gripped the presented limb.  He dug his fingers into the thick ridge as hard as he could, but it was entirely unable to cause even the slightest give in the muscle.

“That’s… pretty awesome Mizu.”  Miles admitted.  “That said, if you’re going to be a real crime-fighter, you may need something more than just sheer strength.  I’ve got something else for you.”

2.)  Suiting Up
A few minutes later

“Is that really a…”  Mizuki started before grabbing onto the weapon’s handle.  “It is.  It’s a friggan Katana!”  She brought the blade to her face, closely examining it.

“Careful!  It’s sharpened.  Ready for battle.”

“Miles… why do you have a Katana..?” she asked, staring at the blade.

“Well…” Miles started, “Truthfully, when I was younger, I was even more of a dork.  As a result, I collected all sorts of weird things – including… swords, like that one.  Of course, it wasn’t sharpened until now.  I did that today while you were asleep.  I figured a dull blade wouldn’t be that useful for you.  Then again, with those muscles…  Well, you know what I mean.”

“So basically, I’m taking a sword to a gun fight?” Mizuki was standing in a combat stance holding the blade, her forearms bunched up and rippling from the action.

“I mean, you don’t have to take the sword.  That said, I don’t have any guns for you, unfortunately.  Plus, those tend to attract a lot of unwanted attention.”

“And this doesn’t?” Mizuki performed a few practice swings in the open, her bare triceps and shoulders bulging from the act, which made Miles internally swoon a little.

“Well, uh, you can hide it under your jacket.  Kind of.  I mean, if you do get into a fight, you won’t  be able to keep a low profile anyways.”

“Still, a sword?”

“Look, I get it was probably a silly idea.  I just figured, with your strength, speed, reflexes, and overall dexterity, it’d be a pretty powerful weapon in your hands.”

“I do have to admit this is pretty fun!” Mizuki shouted as she swung the blade a few more times with surprising crispness for someone who had never picked a sword up before in her life.  The more she toyed with the weapon, the more she came around to the idea of using it in battle.  “Say, Miles… think you could find me some videos of actual swordmasters?  I could probably learn a thing or two from them.”

“Just by watching a video..?” the man replied.

Mizuki nodded.  “How do you think I got my moves?”

“Err, I don’t really know what moves you have to be honest.”

The vampiress placed the katana down before going into a short martial-arts routine, striking the air with the same precision and power she had utilized on multiple thugs.

“Wow…” was all Miles could muster.  “Well, I’ll look for some videos.”

A few moments later, Mizuki was swinging the sword alongside a tutorial.  Miles watched with rapt fascination as the beautiful, muscular woman replicated the moves with startling ease.  If he hadn’t known any better, he would’ve mistaken her for someone who had been training her entire life.  Mizuki’s empowered mind was able to mimic the motions with near immediacy.

After gaining some confidence with the weapon, Mizuki decided it was time to segue into what she had discovered from peering into the past minds of the men she drained.  She described to Miles at great length every detail she recalled.  Miles cross-checked police records, hospital records, and various other registries for any possible matches. Slowly but surely, nicknames began to match with descriptions meeting what Mizuki was talking about, which in turn presented full names of suspected and past criminals. He branched into custom built web-crawling algorithm that could try to find the most recent activities of those entered. After placing in all of the full identities he tracked down, Miles hit the motherlode of coincidences: one of the hotels downtown was completely booked by one person – one of the names that popped up.

“There’s no way.” Mizuki said out loud.

“The data isn’t wrong Mizu… unless the hotel’s systems are borked.”

The young woman paced back and forth, thinking this over. Her mind traversed through the thought-scape with ease, and she was able to focus on the topic with far greater depth than ever before in her life. Before long, she had reached a few conclusions.

“Alright,” Mizuki started, “Presuming… PRESUMING, your data is correct, then there’s a lot of money behind the move. Something big must be going down. The hotel is either in on it, or was paid enough to turn a blind eye – or perhaps more.”

“More?”

Mizuki nodded and continued: “If there’s enough money involved, the hotel could actually be in on the operation to some extent. Likely keeping out unwanted company, providing a cover story for authorities, that sort of thing.”

“Right, right.” Miles was now nodding. “Nice thinking Mizuki! Didn’t realize you’re a detective.”

Mizuki shrugged. “Seems that every night I wear a new mask.”

“Speaking of masks, you still thinking about donning the vigilante one tonight?”

“Can’t think of a better night to do so. Maybe I can finally figure out what on Earth is going on with all of these thugs lately.”

Miles nodded. “I would warn you that it could be dangerous… though I guess at this point that’s a given.”

“Unless there’s something about this operation that I don’t understand, I think that they’re the ones in danger.”

With that settled, Miles continued to suit Mizuki up.  They hid her muscled arms beneath a thick jacket, and managed to mostly sneak the katana in there as well.  Under close scrutiny the weapon would give itself away, but Mizuki figured as soon as she started fighting the thugs in the hotel, there would be no point in hiding anything.

They set up the communication system, which was effectively always on in Mizuki’s end, unless she manually turned it off.  That device itself had a GPS tracker in it, and Mizuki playfully placed another tracking mechanism inside her cleavage – just in case the first one was damaged or broken.

There wasn’t much more preparation that the duo could think of, beyond Mizuki training and improving herself further.  Unfortunately, this was likely the only evening that an entire hotel would be completely full of individuals deserving to have their power stripped away.

3.)  Showtime
A short while later

As Mizuki stood in front the hotel, she could palpably detect the danger that awaited her.  She knew that it was going to be tough — a battle to truly test her newfound powers.  That said, if she was successful here, she’d be doing a great service to the entire city; while also indulging in a quite a feast.

First she decided to see if perhaps Miles had made some kind of mistake.  She walked into the lobby, and was curtly greeted by a pair of imposing looking men.  They apologized to her, explaining that there were no vacancies, and the hotel was being reserved by a ‘company’.

Mizuki walked outside of the hotel.

She knew Miles likely heard everything that had transpired, but decided to chime in anyways, “No dice.” she said with just enough volume to ensure he could receive the message.

“Well, you could just fight your way in. Not like any of the hotel staff could stop you.”

“Oh yeah?” she replied, “You must be really eager to hear me in action. Panting, fighting, and feasting… probably all without breaking a sweat, to be honest.”

Miles cleared his throat. “No… it wasn’t really a serious suggestion, just mentioning something you COULD do as a backup.”

“Riiight. Thing is, I don’t know if those guys are with the mafia or not.  No need to harm or drain anyone who doesn’t deserve it.”

“True.  Good thinking Mizu. Glad to hear you’ve got your heart in the right place.”

Anyways, you’re supposed to be the brains behind my brawn, so what do you propose I do now?” As Mizuki made this statement, she began to wonder how true it was. With all of her recent improvements, was Miles actually more intelligent than her? At any rate, he was in a much better position to provide her with intel and feedback.

“Hmm… well, how good is your climbing?”

“My climbing? Not sure…” It took Mizuki a moment to understand what he was hinting at, but she quickly inferred it, “Wait, are you serious?”

“Just thinking out loud. I mean, considering those forearms of yours…”

“Don’t forget about my upper arms, back, chest, AND core; all useful aspects for climbing!”

Miles cleared his throat once again. “Right, yeah.”

Before another word was spoken, the motion sensor in front of Miles began to move, prompting him to speak again: “Uhh, Mizu…?”

He was answered by the sound of Mizuki’s jacket scrunching and her breathing growing slightly heavier as her powerful body scaled the side of the hotel – her superhuman grip digging into the bricks slightly.

“Oh god, you’re actually climbing the building, aren’t you?” Miles asked.

“Very observant of you. So which floor do you recommend I go into?”

Mizuki punched through the window, forcing the reinforced glass to shatter at her touch.  Despite creating an uncountable number of shards, she remained entirely unscratched.  With a leap, she jumped into the building.

A sloppily dressed man at the end of the hallway immediately noticed her.

“HOLY SHIT.” He yelled out, drawing a pistol from his side.

Mizuki instinctively focused in as the man readied his weapon.  Her eyes, magnitudes more efficient than a regular human’s, immediately discerned the smallest micro motion in the thug’s hands; all of this perceived in a vacuum of time in which Mizuki could perceive things moving more slowly than they really were.  Thanks to this, she was able to change her own trajectory just enough in line with where the man was aiming to so that the bullet passed by her.  This wasn’t to say that Mizuki could actually dodge bullets; rather she was able to perceive their exact point of origin and avoid them.

The vampiress dodged a few shots like this, leading the thug to cry out in despair — he had missed four shots in a row at close range; this was unheard of for someone with his experience.

A grin on her face, Mizuki hurtled towards him; a single leap from her superpowered legs allowed her to close the gap with unreal speed.  She immediately closed the gap, and with one well-placed palm-strike knocked the gun out of his hands before pulling him close, immediately sinking her waiting fangs into his neck.  As she drained his very essence, Mizuki concentrated on stealing as much reaction speed and agility as possible, as these seemed to be the most important attributes for this mission.  Focusing on what she wanted to steal worked, and the young woman could sense that she was actually taking a greater proportion of those things in relation to the rest.  She still gained a small amount of strength, intelligence, and even height, but the lion’s share lay in the ability to foresee and dodge oncoming attacks.

After thoroughly draining her opponent, Mizuki tossed him aside, moving towards her objective.  Her next obstacle presented itself: three men with firearms at the end of the hallway.  She immediately knew that her heightened senses alone, as superhuman as they may be, wouldn’t be enough to avoid all of the potential oncoming projectiles.  A possible solution presented itself.  Mizuki finally unsheathed the katana attached to her back, readying it in a stance similar to what she mimicked from observing the master swordsmen online.

The thugs looked at each other, somewhat confused.  Mizuki took advantage of this, and moved towards towards them with inhuman speed slightly greater than which she employed against her previous target.  The men opened fire.  Mizuki predicted this.  From focusing on their hand motions alone, she was able to dodge half of the oncoming slugs; as for the others, sword readied, Mizuki brought the metal blade directly into the path of the bullets, literally deflecting them with sheer superhuman reaction speed.

“Holy shit!” One of the men exclaimed.  “That bitch just deflected a bul-” he was cut off as Mizuki was already in front of him, and a moment later her blade was sunk deep into the man’s thigh.

With the first thug disabled, she grabbed both of the other’s guns, yanked them from their grips, and with her own crumpled the steel as if it was paper – rendering the weapons destroyed.  One of the disarmed thugs tried to launch an assault, bringing his arm up before bringing it down towards Mizuki, but she was too fast; the vampiress effortlessly intercepted his arm, brought it behind his back, and with one easy motion dislodged his shoulder blade.

The other disarmed gangster attempted to flee.  In most situations, Mizuki would let him escape, but this situation was too delicate.  She couldn’t risk this man alerting anyone else in the building, or doing something drastic like contacting the police.  Despite his best attempt to escape, Mizuki closed the distance within a matter of moments, as he immensely powerful body was capable of moving magnitudes faster than his.  She grabbed hold of him and sank her fangs into his neck once more; focusing yet again on prioritizing reaction speed and agility as attributes she stole.

Both of the remaining thugs had gathered themselves.  Even with a katana lodged in his thigh, the first man had enough adrenaline coursing in his veins to move past the pain.  Mizuki blurred towards them, grabbed onto both of their heads, and cracked their skulls together – careful to not shatter anything, just applying enough force to knock them out.  While she didn’t need to feast per say, Mizuki wanted to make sure she had enough power to overcome anything that remained in her way.  She eagerly sucked the life force from both of the men, growing even more in the process.

As a result of having just drained four men, even after focusing on non-physical attributes, Mizuki still incurred a noticeable spurt.  The leather jacket adorning her muscular frame struggled to remain attached to her lusty limbs.  Feeling constricted by the garment, and emboldened by her success, Mizuki grabbed hold of the sleeves and tore them off as if they were tissue paper – revealing a pair of supremely threatening arms.

4.) More Power

Another pair of men emerged from a nearby room.  Mizuki sped towards them so quickly that their senses never actually caught full sight of her appearance.  A few well-placed strikes immediately dislodged their shoulders, allowing Mizuki to drain them, growing even more.  Her jacket entirely fell to shreds, and the leather bodice barely managed to contain her bulging frame.

Mizuki had acquired so much power in the past few minutes that it hadn’t properly registered in her mind.  A new ability made itself apparent to her: Mizuki could sense nearby lifeforms.  While her senses had already reached superhuman levels, and as a result she could see, hear, and even smell most individuals from a great distance away, this was something different.  Her mind was simultaneously operating on another level, detecting which Mizuki would go on to describe as ‘auras’ of those around her.

This was to say, by focusing slightly, Mizuki could actually see the auras of individuals through walls, as if she were using infrared vision.

With this new ability, Mizuki saw that someone was quickly headed down an intersection hallway.  She moved forward, preparing herself to ambush this figure.  As expected, as soon as the aura crossed into her sight, an armed thug containing it appeared.  He held an assault rifle in his hands, which gave Mizuki concern.  How did some random city thug get a weapon like that!?  Even with all of her speed, it’d be difficult to dodge a fully automatic spray of bullets if the guy pulled the trigger fast enough.  Without delay, Mizuki grabbed the katana and hurled it at the thug, and before he could react it sank deep into his shoulder-blade, allowing Mizuki to speed towards him, and sink her fangs in for yet another meal.

As Mizuki drained her seventh target for the night, she focused on empowering this ‘aura vision’ of hers.  The concentration worked, and her ability to see an individual’s life force broadened further.  The rest of her body did as well, as even more muscle piled onto her frame.  Sensing that nobody was immediately around, she decided to indulge a bit and take in her new form.

To call Mizuki’s muscles large would be an understatement at this point.  The young woman was immense.  Her arms were on par with some of the largest men in the world, with a circumference that was easily in the upper 20’s of inches.  Unlike the power-lifters who could hope to compete, there was no non-essential fat on her limb.  The smallest motion resulted in a network of powerful ridges of muscle to dance, a few large pencil-sized veins coating the limb.

Mizuki looked down at her chest, which was practically spilling out of the leather bodice.  Her pecs had grown into pair of thick, armor-like slabs of muscle with a deep ridge between them, a web of lines indicating their supreme definition.  Beneath this shelf of muscle was another, that of the only fatty tissue on Mizuki’s frame; her breasts had grown even further, and their edges were falling out of the bodice.

She laughed at this sight.  A small tinge of narcissism wanted to run to the nearest mirror, and fully observe this body.  An even deeper vein wanted to show off this improved form to Miles, or even Chloe, or hell, maybe even Nash.  In fact, she really wouldn’t mind letting the first two get really up close and personal with her – though she’d pass on Nash.  That’s when it occurred to her that she actually just considered something physical with Miles.  Mizuki laughed and shook her head.  Maybe that time would come, the guy had been an excellent helper after all.

Speaking of Miles, Mizuki rembered that she was on a pretty sensitive and dangerous mission.  She focused on scanning the building for presences.  There was still a small collection of thugs left, and then it made itself apparent to her:  a tremendous aura.

Mizuki’s eyes widened.  This aura was larger, roughly twice the size of a regular person’s, and blazed far more brightly than all the others.

“Miles?  You there bud?”  She asked out loud.

No response.

“Miles?” she tried again, once more with no answer.

Mizuki let out a sigh.  What was going on?  Did Miles go to the bathroom?  Was he in trouble?  She could speed back to him and check in, but at the same time, she didn’t want to give up the opportunity to put a dent in the operations of these criminals.  At the very least, she needed to figure out what that huge aura was.  It had to be the boss of these goons, or at the very least the most powerful of them.  Coming this far, just to leave the head of the organization in-tact seemed like a terrible idea.

A greedy and self-righteous part of Mizuki wanted to drain every criminal in the building, to feel their power flow into her, and know fully well that they could never easily harm someone again.  A more rational and caring side took over however: Mizuki knew that hunting each individual down, even if they were scum, was somewhat inhumane.  Plus, she needed to figure out what happened to Miles.  Not wanting to abandon the project after getting this far, Mizuki decided to hedge her bets – she would take out this huge aura, hopefully the leader, then zip back to Miles’s place as quickly as possible, find out what’s going on, and take things from there.

Mizuki’s super powered mind thought this course of action over a few times, and eventually she convinced herself it was the best way to go about things.

With haste, Mizuki moved towards the location of the tremendous aura.  For some reason, none of the other men nearby emerged from their rooms.  Perhaps they weren’t aware of the situation, or maybe they were told to stand down?  Didn’t matter, Mizuki needed to focus on the most powerful foe.

She approached a large set of double doors.  With a single well-placed roundhouse kick, Mizuki’s trunk-like legs burst through the entrance, revealing a huge, sprawling office; and in the center, her next opponent:  a massive, hulking creature, with a wolf’s face, and fur covering its muscular body.

It took a fraction of a second for Mizuki to cross reference the image with her records of pop culture:  it was a werewolf!

– To be continued!
